PARA PUBLICACIÓN INMEDIATA:
Single-Trip Fares to Increase by 10 Cents on Local Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway and Mobility/Paratransit
BALTIMORE, MD (MAY 11, 2017) – As required by the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act of 2013, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will increase transit fares effective Sunday, June 25. The legislatively mandated increase will occur prior to the 1 de julio de 2017, deadline for implementing the new fares as required by the Maryland General Assembly.
As mandated in the 2013 law, if the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increases in the previous two years, MDOT MTA is required to increase transit fares by increments of 10 cents for Local Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway and Mobility/Paratransit. Fare increases for Commuter Bus and MARC Train occur every five years. These fares are not increasing this year.
Effective June 25, the single-trip fare will increase from $1.70 to $1.80 for Local Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway and Mobility/Paratransit. The percent increase in the single-trip fare is used to calculate the increase in MDOT MTA’s multi-use day, weekly and monthly passes. Click [here] for the details.
MDOT MTA was recently rated as having America’s best bargain in urban travel. In a ValuePenguin survey of 10 urban centers, the MDOT MTA’s CharmCard® proved the best value for monthly unlimited rides on MDOT MTA transit services.
