Construction begins on new Camden Yards Station
Construction work has begun on the new Camden Yards MARC Train Station. The new station, scheduled to be completed next summer, will feature an expanded waiting area, restrooms, new ticket vending machines, an MDOT MTA Police Force substation, as well as new service and informational displays.
All MARC Camden Line trains will continue to service Camden Station during the construction, however, there will be significant changes to pedestrian flow. In addition, the Camden Yards Light Rail station will temporarily close and the Penn-Camden Light Rail shuttle train will operate between Penn Station and Mount Royal only.
The station building will close at the end of service on Friday, October 19. There will be no inside waiting area or restroom during the construction, and the ticket vending machine will be moved to the sidewalk on Lee Street, which parallels the train tracks near the end of Track 3.
Passengers who use the bike racks located next to the current station must remove their bikes no later than the end of service on Monday, October 15. There will be no bike racks available at Camden Station October 16-19. Starting on Monday, October 22, bike racks will be available next to the temporary location of the ticket machine along Lee Street.
Beginning in November (exact date to be announced), the only way to access Camden Station will be from the west, using the Lee Street entrance, across from the baseball stadium. There will be no direct access to the station from the north or east. Passengers should allow 10-15 minutes additional time to walk to the station, and are reminded to only cross streets at designated crosswalks.
We regret any inconvenience these changes may cause and appreciate your patience while we build the new Camden Yards MARC station.
